PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device suitable for a manually operating type changeover mechanism without erroneously recognizing by compact and simple constitution and capable of insuring a sufficient space for operation on the periphery of a base board by discriminating the sort of a locked element from the detected signal from a detecting part, and transmitting the discriminated signal outward. SOLUTION: When hole IC 10a-10s respectively arrive the position confronted with permanent magnets 9A1-9F2, 9F4, the hole IC detects a magnetic flux to transmit an ON signal to a computation circuit 12. When each opening part A-F is on the position conformed to an optical axis O, the permanent magnets 9A1, 9A2-9F2, 9F4 are arranged so as to confront with any two or more of the hole IC 10a-10d, and a four bit signal due to ON (1)-OFF (0) of the IC 10a-10d is output. The computation circuit 12 receives the four bit signal, processes the signal based on address information, transmits a signal lighting the LED of a display part 13 corresponding to the opening part, and detects the address of the opening part and discriminates the sort of mounted object lens.
