PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly form a crystal space in an as-deposited amorphous state by an actual drive at a high speed without particularly carrying out initialization by providing a substantially amorphous state and a specified heat conductivity to the address part of a recording layer causing a prescribed phase change. SOLUTION: The recording layer of an optical recording medium has an address part and a data part. The data part has a substantially amorphous state in the unrecorded state before recording data and the heat conductivity is 0.8-6 W/mK. Since the recording medium is not passed through an initial crystallizing step, a header part and the data part are in the substantially amorphous state. The heat conductivity of the as-deposited amorphous part can further and widely be lowered by adjusting conditions in the formation of the recording layer and conditions in the formation of interference films on the top and bottom of the recording layer. |
