<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interpole dimensions and to provide high output with a sealed lead-acid battery of the same outer dimensions and retainer, for example, by using a thin electrode plate to increase the number of the electrode plates in a cell. SOLUTION: In this lead-acid battery, a separator laminated with a first and second paper sheets is disposed between positive and negative electrode plates such that the first paper sheet is abut to the positive electrode plate and the second paper sheet is abut to the negative electrode plate. The pore diameter of the first paper sheet is larger than that of the second paper sheet. A liquid-retaining property of the first paper sheet is greater than that of the second paper sheet. The first paper sheet is a paper sheet made of mainly a fiber having acid resistance and having a density of 0.13-0.18 g/cm3. The second paper sheet is a paper sheet containing a silica powder and made of a fiber having acid resistance and a density of 0.18-0.23 g/cm3.</p> |
