PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key lighting system utilizing a backlight system capable of being turned on, turned off, or varying in luminescent color, according to the operation of a key. SOLUTION: The light of a lamp is guided from a lamp portion 3 of a backlight system to a key top by using a transparent resin for light guide. A light incoming surface (light guiding surface) of the key top and a light outgoing surface of the transparent resin for light guide are disposed so that they come to confront each other either when the transparent key top is at a down position or when it is at an up position. By this disposition, the key top can be lighted either when the transparent key top is at the down position or when it is at the up position, that is, when the key top is at one key position where the light incoming surface of the key top confronts the light outgoing surface of the transparent resin for light guide, and the light of the key top can be put out at the other position.
