PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for reducing various problems related to the transfer of a direct memory access(DMA) command to a DMA controller by providing the DMA controller with a control logic and respective registers for holding a head pointer and a tail pointer. SOLUTION: The DMA controller is provided in a computer system 10. This computer system 10 is provided with processors 12 and 14 and a command buffer for holding a DMA command sequence. The DMA controller 38 is provided with the control logic and the head and tail pointer registers for holding the head pointer and the tail pointer, respectively, for respectively instructing the head and tail of the DMA command sequence in the command buffer. In response to the tail pointer in the tail register, this control logic accesses the DMA command transferred from the command buffer to the DMA controller 38.
