PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make effectively correctable a phenomenon in which a chromaticity data of display output light changes according to input video data levels by providing this color display device with a means, etc., for controlling a pre scribed conversion characteristic by using chromaticity information on dark time display light obtained from chromaticity variation information on the dark time display light. SOLUTION: A temperature sensor 19 is arranged adjacently to or integrally with a liquid crystal panel 16. This temperature sensor 19 is, for example, a thermistor, and since the thermistor is changed in resistance according to temperature, the changes are detected by a resistance change detecting circuit 20, and a control CPU 15 takes in the value periodically or as necessary. And, it obtains variation information on chromaticity of display light at dark time having no input video data level, and controls a conversion characteristic at the time of converting variations in optical property of light into variations in visual recognition according to the input levels of the video data by using that chromaticity information of the dark time display light in displaying an image, which is obtained from the variation information on the chromaticity of the dark time display light.
