PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for recovering a good satisfactory state by detecting faulty fluidity of a medium caused by a low melting point compound produced through reaction of ash in fuel and limestone as a fluidity medium, in the early stage. SOLUTION: In this control method for a fluidized bed boiler comprising a fluidized bed 6 for combusting a fossil fuel supplied from a fuel supply mean 4, means 3 for supplying the fluidized bed with fluidizing/combusting air, and means 21 for extracting the ] medium from the fluidized bed, local incomplete fluidity at the lower part of the fluidized bed is detected by means for detecting the gas pressure loss in the height direction of the fluidized bed or the temperature at a plurality of points at the lower part of the fluidized bed. The fluidizing medium is then added to recover the fluid state and the ascending bed height is kept within a predetermined range by withdrawing the rough granular fluidizing medium from faulty fluidity part.
