The isolated autophosphorylating polypeptide or a fragment thereof possessing P13 kinase activity has the amino acid sequence depicted in figure 1 of the specification or a homologue thereof optionally modified by deletion, substitution or addition of at least one amino acid residue and characterized in that the polypeptide is selectively expressed in white blood cells and/or melanomas. An antibody, nucleic acid encoding the above polypeptide and host cell thereof are disclosed. A pharmaceutical/veterinary composition thereof is useful for treating cancer.
