PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the photopolymerizable composition superior in photopolymerization sensitivity and photo-decolorization, and the photosensitive and thermosensitive record material and the image recording method both using this composition. SOLUTION: The photopolymerizable composition contains at least a polymerizable compound having an ethylenically unsaturated group and an organic borate compound and a cationic compound interreacting with the organic borate compound, and the organic borate compound is characterized by having a cationic component represented by the formula: N+R1R2R3R4 (each of R1-R4 is a hydrocarbon group and a total carbon atom number of these groups of >=20, and the photosensitive and thermosensitive recording material uses this composition and the image is recorded by using it.
