PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defective pixel data generating device that detects defective data together with a black flaw defect so as to effectively correct a defective pixel even after a solid-state image pickup device is mounted on an image pickup device. SOLUTION: The device 10 has a coordinate memory 24, which stores positional information denoting the position of a defective pixel included in a solid-state image pickup device 22. A signal correction circuit 42 references the coordinate memory 24 to correct the defect of an image signal resulting from the defective pixel and to store the result in a memory card 45. In a defective pixel designation mode, an image signal 28 outputted from the solid-state image pickup device 22 is fed to a display section as it is, where the picture represented by the signal 28 is visually displayed on a display screen 20. When a user finds out a defective pixel on a displayed picture on the display screen 20, the user points out the position by using a touch pen 204 or a cursor 206 of an operation section 50. A system control section 62 identifiers the position of the pointed-out defective pixel in response thereto and stores it in the coordinate memory 24 as positional information denoting coordinates in an image pickup cell array 26 of the solid-state image pickup device 22.
