Veterinary use of a pleuromutilin derivative in the therapy of animal diseases

The use of the compound with the formula shown in a free base or in veterinarily acceptable salt form in the therapy of veterinary diseases involving secondary infections due to increased stocking density, wherein the veterinary disease is associated with infection by bacteria selected from the group consisting of Sepulina pilosicoli, Lawsonia intracellularis, Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica and mixtures thereof. 14-O-[1-[(R)-2-amino-3-methylbutyrylamino]-2-methylpropan-2-ylthioacetyl]mutilin is useful for the treatment of swine colitis associated with Serpulina pilosicoli infection.
