Active hedgehog conjugate, process for its production and use

A hedgehog conjugate which comprises, 1) a polypeptide composed of 10-30 hydrophobic amino acids of amino acids which form transmembrane helices and are positively charged, 2) 1-4 aliphatic, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon residues with a chain length of 8-24 C atoms and with a hydrophobic action, or 3) a hydrophobic thio compound, covalently bound to a recombinantly produced hedgehog protein. Also described is a process for the production of the hedgehog conjugate and the use of the conjugate in the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition. The conjugate can be used to induce or stimulate chondrocytes and osteocytes or also to induce muscle and nerve cells.
