The skin barrier lotion comprises: a) 5-15%% by weight of a long chain fatty acid such as stearic acid; b) 1-5% by weight of a long chain fatty alcohol such as cetyl alcohol; c) 1-30% by weight of a silicone skin protectant such as dimethicone; d) 1-10% by weight of an oil such as mineral oils; e) 0.5-5% by weight of an alkanolamine such as triethanolamine; f) 0.5-5% by weight of a humectant such as glycerol; g) 0.5-10% by weight of a inorganic skin protectant such as zinc oxide; h) 0.5-15% by weight of a preservative such as benzyl alcohol; i) 50-90% by weight of water and j) optionally a fragrance and/or odor neutralizer.
