PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent large quantities of hot water and steam from overflowing at once from a container, such as in the case of overturning of a humidifier. SOLUTION: In this humidifier comprising a water storage container 13, an evaporating container 15, a pipeline 17 for connecting the two containers 13, 15, a heater 16 for heating supplied water through the pipeline 17, and a gravity type shut-off mechanism 40 for shutting off hot water and steam in response to an attitude of the humidifier, so that hot water and steam heated by the hater 16 do not flow out to the outside, the mechanism 40 has a support having an engaging hole and an opening for discharging the steam, a valve disc of a prescribed size for blocking the opening of the support, a spring having a prescribed urging force and urging the disc in a valve closing direction, and a weight ball for opening the valve disc against the force of the spring by its weight, in such a manner that when the humidifier is inclined at a prescribed angle or larger, the weight of the ball will not act on the spring. |
