PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preset restrictions such as priority with respect to changeover of controllers being a control source in response to the contents of a program and a purpose of use of the controller in the case that a plurality of controllers control one lens system. SOLUTION: A CPU 30 controls a focus lens 42 on the basis of a control signal outputted from controllers 0, 1. In this case, the CPU 30 selects a controller that is a control source in response to a mode set by a mode setting switch S1. In the case of a mode 0, the controller 0 is decided for the control source, and in the case of modes 1, 2, a focus controller in operation is used for a control source. When the focus controllers 1, 2 are operated at the same time, the operation of the focus controller 0 takes precedence over the operation of the controller 1 in the mode 1, and the operation of the focus controller 1 takes precedence over the operation of the controller 0 in the mode 2.
