摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin and lightweight structure of a liquid crystal device having an EL element as a light source in which high adhesion property can be maintained between a liquid crystal layer and the EL element and which can be easily produced. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal layer 2 held by sealing a liquid crystal 9 between a pair of substrates 8a, 8b, and a light emitting layer 14 held between a pair of EL electrodes 17a, 17b. The EL electrodes 17a, 17b and the light emitting layer 14 are directly formed by a film forming method such as sputtering on the surface of the substrate 8b having the liquid crystal layer 2, namely, on one same surface.
