ROLL PROFILE MEASURING METHOD AND JET FLOW RATE CONTROLLER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of measurement noise due to interference with roll coolant while saving the quantity of fluid being jetted. SOLUTION: Roll profile is measured on-line while varying the liquid jet flow rate depending on the rotational speed of a roll 4 using a water column ultrasonic range finder 3 performing measurement while jetting liquid to the surface of the roll 4. A flow rate setting means 5 predicts the rotational speed of roll during measurement based on the rolling conditions of a material to be rolled. Jet flow rate is regulated by supplying a flow rate regulation valve 2 with a jet flow rate set command based on the rotational speed of roll thus predicted.
