PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a user from hazards by making an entire antenna rod of a portable telephone set emit light to enable the user to see it when the user speaks through telephone on a road or the like, when being out at night. SOLUTION: At transmission, a signal from a transmitter is processed into a signal processing circuit 36 and passes a directional coupler 33 for transmission/reception from a transmission part 35 by a communication control means 37 and passes a carrier wave band high-frequency signal input/output circuit 32 and a storage part 31, and an antenna main body 11 is excited by transmission radio wave via a slide coupling mechanism 22, and the transmission radio wave is radiated from the antenna. Simultaneously, a luminous part 12 emits light by an electric field component in the area of the luminous part 12 of this transmission radio wave. At reception, even if only a slight reception signal is detected, signal processing is performed and the signal is sent to a receiver, and passes a high-frequency amplification circuit 38 by a reception control means 39 to excite the antenna main body 11 via the directional coupler 33 by a high frequency different from the frequency in the carrier band, and the whole luminous part 12 is made to emit light by the electric field.
