PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably and easily designate a drawing element to be defined as a processing object in a short time concerning a drawing to be plotted on a screen. SOLUTION: Concerning this processing object area designating method, when a worker designates a line segment of a drawing displayed on a display with a mouse (step S1) and clicks the mouse (step S5), the plotting data of the other drawing element connected to a start point S and an end point E of the line segment are successively transferred to an editing object buffer (step S6) and the editing object area is expanded. Therefor, the worker can designate the drawing element desired to be designated as the editing processing object with great certainty and even when the processing object area is comparatively large, it can be easily designated in a short time.
