PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to connect a plurality of telephone number display adapters to one line. SOLUTION: This display device extracts the data of a telephone number from a modem signal demodulating circuit 24 when a DC loop detecting circuit 25 detects a DC loop after a polarity inversion detecting circuit 21 or ringer signal detecting circuit 23 detects the polarity inversion of the line or a ringer signal. A display signal corresponding to the data of the extracted telephone number is supplied to a display element 32, which displays the telephone number.
