PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a near field optical recording/reproducing device for detecting a gap between a probe tip and a storage medium with a light and simple configuration and for preventing such inconveniences as the spread of a recording spot, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the near field optical recording/reproducing device, at least the tip portion of an optical fiber probe 21 is covered with a conductor layer 25, and at the same time a conductor layer 12 is provided at a storage medium 10. The conductor layer 25 is made of a flexible conductor material. The conductor layer 25 is provided with a flat surface 25b that is formed by pressing the tip of the optical fiber probe 21 to the storage medium 10 and is in parallel with the surface of the storage medium 10. |
