A wiper blade element retaining clip 5 for use in an elongate wiper blade element 1 to retain wiper blade element 1 in a wiper blade assembly includes a harness having at least one claw 6 for connecting the harness to wiper blade element 1. A body portion 10 is securable to a wiping component 2 of wiper blade element 1. At least one leg 11 is connected to body portion 10 and has a free end with a hook portion 12 thereat . In use body portion 10 is located longitudinally outward of claw 6. The or each leg 11 extends over claw 6 and hook portion 12 is located longitudinally inward of claw 6 thereby to retain wiping component 2 within claw 6 and to limit longitudinally movement of wiper blade element 1 within the harness.
