PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high and uniform quality reduced in discoloration and color blotting without requiring a special device by providing a color picture receiver with a CPU, a RAM and a timer and aging the receiver based on data on brightness and/or aging time of a screen corresponding to an aging mode stored in the RAM. SOLUTION: The CPU 12, through a bus line 16, processes data in the RAM 14 by a program, and drives the timer 15 by a command to control a cathode tube 11 via a cathode tube drive 13. Data on the brightness or/and the aging time of the screen is optionally written and stored in the RAM 14 from outside in accordance with an aging condition. At the time of executing the aging mode, data in RAM 14 is read by the CPU 12 and the command is sent from the CPU 12 to operate the drive 13 to age the tube 11. Thus, aging is executed on an optimum condition and the uniform quality is obtained.
