<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a visual inspection device to efficiently inspect small electronic parts for appearance while the parts are transported at a high speed by transferring the parts to a second transporting mechanism by inverting the attitudes of the parts by means of an inverting mechanism while the parts are transported on a first transporting mechanism. SOLUTION: While a plurality of rectangular parallelepiped or nearly rectangular parallelepiped electronic parts supplied one by one by means of a supplying mechanism 10 is carried on a first transporting mechanism 20 composed of a turntable 21, a linear conveyor 22, etc., the pictures of the first and second faces of the parts in the direction perpendicular to the transporting direction are taken with first and second cameras. Then the parts are transported along a guide and inverted in the direction perpendicular to the transporting direction by means of a second transporting mechanism 40 composed of a turntable, a linear conveyor, etc., so as to invert the bottom-side faces of the parts by 180 deg. or 90 deg. and the pictures of the third and fourth faces of the parts are taken with third and fourth cameras. Thereafter, a picture processing section 71 discriminates the propriety of the appearances of the parts from the pictures taken from the first to fourth faces of the parts.</p> |
