PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply aiming at, preventing malfunction of a control circuit IC (comparator) when a voltage of an external power supply applied to the control circuit IC is lowered and the power consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: This switching power supply that uses a voltage (VDD) generated by an applied voltage (VCC) is used for its drive power supply voltage and has a comparator that produces a signal at a high/low level by comparing a reference voltage with a comparison voltage produced by dividing the received voltage, is provided with a discrimination circuit 2 for a high level signal generated through malfunctions, when the voltage of the drive power supply is lower than a prescribed level.
