摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light weight and economical eddy current reduction apparatus, wherein the magnetic part opposing to a magnet and the nonmagnetic part not opposing to the magnet are formed, by partially executing the heat treatment to a guide cylinder having a thinner structure. SOLUTION: An eddy current reduction apparatus is provided with a brake drum 8 coupled with a rotating shaft 2, a guide cylinder 21 having the rectangular cross section mounted to the non-rotating part of body within the brake drum 8, a magnet support cylinder 25 supported to reciprocatively move in the shaft direction within the guide cylinder 21, and many magnets 15 coupled with the outer circumference surface of the magnet support cylinder 25, keeping the equal interval in the circumference direction. The brake drum 8 is caused to generate a brake force with an eddy current based on the magnetic field from the magnet 15. Using a thin steel plate for the external side guide cylinder 22, a nickel plate 43 is jointed to the part not opposing to the magnet 15 of the steel plate and these are subjected to high-frequency heat treatment.
