The compounds of formula (I) are antioxidants and may be used as therapeutic agents for combating cognitive disorders associated with cerebral ageing or neurodegenerative disorders and also for combating neurone death. In formula (I): Ra is a linear or branched (C1-C8) alkylene group, Rb is a single bond or a linear or branched (C1-C6) alkylene group, Z is a thiocarbamate group -OC(=S)N(R1)- wherein the O is bonded to the Ra group, or Z is a thioamide group -C(=S)N(R1)- wherein the thiocarbonyl group is bonded to the Ra group; wherein R1 is H, a linear or branched (C1-C6) alkyl group, an aryl group or an aryl-(C1-C6) alkyl group in which the alkyl moiety is linear or branched; and T is a morpholino group substituted with R2 and R3, wherein R2 and R3 are independently selected from H, a linear or branched (C1-C6) alkyl group, a cycloalkyl or heterocycloalkyl group, a cycloalkyl- or heterocylcoalkyl-(C1-C6)alkyl group in which the alkyl moiety is linear or branched, an aryl or heteroaryl group, an aryl- or heteroaryl-(C1-C6)alkyl group in which the alkyl moiety is linear or branched, or an amino-(C1-C6)-alkyl group in which the alkyl moiety is linear or branched and the amino moiety is optionally substituted.
