A b-lactam compound of formula (I) wherein: R1 is a C1-C5 alkyl group or a C1-C5 alkyl group being substituted by a hydroxy group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C5 alkyl group, X is O, S or NH, n is 1, 2 or 3, R3 is -C(Ra)=NH, in which Ra is a H atom, a C1-C5 alkyl group or a substituted C1-C5 alkyl group, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or non-toxic ester thereof. Also disclosed is an anti-bacterial agent comprising the above formulation.
