PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a navigation system to give an appropriate course changing instruction correspondingly to an instructed person, by constituting the system in such a way that the system can change the degrees of instructions depending upon the course change instructing frequency and timing by changing the course change instructing condition. SOLUTION: A navigation system acquires the present location of its own vehicle by means of a CPU 5 based on present location information from a GPS 2 and moving distance information from a speed pulse counter 3, In addition, the system acquires and displays map information by performing access to a CD-ROM 8. When a destination, transit place, etc., is inputted and route setting is instructed from a user, the system displays the optimum route to the destination based on the map information from the CD-ROM 8 and the present location. When guidance is instructed from the user, the system accurately guides the user to the destination by instructing course changes upon approaching course changing points. At the time of instructing the course changes, the degrees of instructions can be changed at every instructing item depending upon the instructing frequency and timing in a state where a setting picture which accepts course change instructing conditions is selected. Therefore, the course changing instructions can be given under the changed conditions. |
