PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounting vibrator that adopts an air gap method by which impact resistance is improved and its vibrating characteristic is excellently maintained. SOLUTION: This crystal vibrator is provided with a recessed case 6, having a 1st exciting electrode 4 led out to an outer surface as a mount terminal at its inner bottom face, a cover 7 that seals the opening of the recessed case 6 and has a 2nd exciting electrode on its inner surface, and a crystal chip 3 that is fixed to the inner surface of the cover 7 with a gap and excited by the 1st and 2nd exciting electrodes 4, 5. The 1st exciting electrode 4 of the recessed case 6 and the 2nd exciting electrode 5 come out to the outer surface of the recessed case 6 as mount terminals.
