PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a focal-plane shutter for a camera constituted so that the actuation for exposure of a rear blade group is smoothly and stably started. SOLUTION: A blade chamber for the rear blade group is constituted between an intermediate plate 6 and an auxiliary bottom board 7. In a state just before starting the actuation of exposure, the blades 16, 17, 18 and 19 of the rear blade group are overlapped on the lower position of an aperture part 1a. In such a state, it is only a 1st area 6a and a 2nd area 6b that the plate 6 is overlapped on the blades 16, 17, 18 and 19 at a position lower than the aperture part 1a, and an area existing between them as usual does not exist. Therefore, the contact area of the plate 6 with the blade 16 arranged nearest to the plate 6 side is drastically reduced and the actuation for exposure of the rear blade group is smoothly started.
