PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent boiling off by constructing a container for generating steam, such that the volume on the upper side is larger than that on the bottom side, thereby boiling water quickly even when the water in a water storage container is at a highest level. SOLUTION: This humidifier 400 comprises a water storage container 13, an evaporation container 151, a heating section 16, a duct 17 and a volume reducing member 40 of a specified shape. The heating section 16 may be an evaporation tubular body separation type. The volume reducing member 40 comprises a dome-like volume reducing member fixed removably into an evaporation container 151, which has larger volume on the upper side than on the bottom side. According to the structure, the volume of water being heated at the heating section 16 can be reduced by a dome-like volume reducing member 41, and boiling water bubbles are prevented from increasing in diameter while ascending. Water 5 is supplied from the water storage container 13 to a cubic gap formed between the dome-like volume reducing member 41 and the columnar evaporation container 151.
