Porous non-flammable composite material production, from disintegrated plant fibers coated with a calcium-magnesium carbonate based film, is new. Porous non-flammable composite materials are produced from renewable raw materials by a combined thermomechanical preparation and hydrothermal treatment process, in which lignin-containing vegetable starting materials are disintegrated by pressure and temperature and the fibers are enclosed in a calcium/magnesium carbonate film by addition of a mixture of calcium/magnesium oxide and hydrated silicate while supplying carbon dioxide.
