In order to ensure that a digital exchange can carry out proper one-time charge determination for payable connections, it is necessary to verify the accuracy of the communication data records generated by the digital exchange (20). Existing test systems can merely test the formal structure of the communication data record. The invention aims to facilitate a more precise verification of the communication data record. To this end, the invention provides, among other things, a system which contains at least one test unit (40) that can be connected to the digital exchange (20). The test unit (40) comprises a device for generating a connection-related reference data record , whereas the digital exchange (20) can generate at least one connection-relat ed communication data record from transmitted communication elements. The contents of the connection-related reference data record are compared in an evaluation unit (50) with the contents of each corresponding connection- related communication data record.
