An electrical connector assembly with a contact having a high resistance portion. When the contact of the electrical connector assembly first makes contact with the one or more contacts of a receptacle assembly, the high resistant portion prevents a voltage surge. As the electrical connector assembly is further inserted to the receptacle assembly, the energy passing from the receptacle to the electrical connector assembly is gradually increased. Eventually, the contacts within the receptacle pass the high resistant portion of the contact of the electrical connector assembly and make contact with the conductive portion of the electrical contact, thereby permitting transmission of valid signals without the generation of spurious errors. |
