The massage device has at least 2 massage elements incorporated in the seat squab or backrest, positioned on either side of the spinal column of the seated passenger, for providing a periodic massage force for the back or bottom, e.g. via a forwards and backwards movement, with adjustment of the period duration over a given range. Also included are Independent claims for the following: (a) a control method for a massage device incorporated in a passenger seat; (b) a method for active adjustment of a seat shape for matching dynamic travel parameters; and (c) a vehicle passenger seat.
