The pen has a cylindrical, at least partly transparent casing (3) with an ink reservoir (13) for a writing end (11) and a light bulb (29). The transparent part of the casing forms a light path, so that light is emitted about the writing end. The main light emission direction of the light bulb is towards the rear of the casing, and axially about it. A mirror arrangement (39,41) is provided, which transmits light down the light path in the casing.
