The system includes a host computer, a control unit and an imaging computer unit. The control unit is constituted by a slot-in card (9) which can be inserted into an ordinary personal computer (2) which contains the host computer. The personal computer operates using a real-time compatible operating system that supports the host computer and the slot-in card. The imaging computer unit may also be a slot-in card. The operating system may be Windows (RTM).
