A filter (10) comprises filter elements (14,16) in a housing (12), and deflecting members for the media, to extinguish sparks. The inlet opening (24) is in the form of an inner pipe (30) outlet. The inner pipe is open at both sides, and the longitudinal axis of the inner pipe corresponds to that of an outer pipe (40) surrounding it. The outer pipe is longer than the inner pipe, and the inlet opening for the media is in the outer pipe so the media passes between the two pipes with a rotational flow.
