A cover plate (7) has a circumferential closing wall (8) and ends in a downward edge (8a) lying close to the flange (4) of the container side wall (2). The edge (8a) is screened by closing wall (5) which surrounds the flange (4). An engagement lip (9) is formed as an extension of the downward edge (8a) for engaging with a tool such as a plier for easy opening of the cover. An Independent claim is also included for assembly of container and cover.
