<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous ink jet recording liquid which has a high permeation and drying speed, has a high concentration and hence does not blur, and is resistant to friction and water by dispersing a pigment in a resin varnish and adding water to the dispersion until a copolymer resin undergoes a phase transition to a hydrosol or an emulsion and by setting the surface tension in a specified range. SOLUTION: A resin varnish used for dispersing a pigment is obtained by dissolving a copolymer resin in an aqueous medium comprising water, an assistant solvent, and a basic compound. The copolymer resin used is a resin obtained by copolymerizing a monomer component containing at least 5 wt.% 14-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group-containing unsaturated monomer, has an acid value of 30-300 mgKOH/g and a wt. average mol.wt. of 2,000-50,000, and is selected from among acrylic resins, styrene-acrylic resins, styrene-maleic acid resins, and styrene-acrylic-maleic acid resins. The assistant solvent used is a water-soluble nitrogen-containing cyclic organic solvent having a surface tension of 35 mN/m or higher. The surface tension is set at 22-45 mN/m.</p> |
