PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyoxyalkylene macromonomer with slight byproduct, to provide a method for producing the macromonomer, to obtain a polyol for sealants having a combination of favorable viscosity characteristics inherent in polyoxyalkylene polyols (low viscosity, low temperature sensitivity) with high heat resistance, weatherability and adhesion each inherent in acrylic polyols using the above polyoxyalkylene macromonomer, and to provide a method for producing the above polyol for sealants. SOLUTION: This polyoxyalkylene macromonomer is obtained, with substantially no byproduct (e.g. diester) formation, by transesterification between (b) a compound having a polymerizable C=C double bond and ester group and (c) a polyoxyalkylene monool in the presence of (a) a Lewis acidic metal compound. The other objective (g) a polyoxyalkylene graft poly(meth)acrylic polyol optimum as a polyol for sealants is obtained by copolymerization between (d) the above specific polyoxyalkylene macromonomer, (e) a hydroxyl-contg. monomer and (f) a (meth)acrylic ester as the essential monomers.
