PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppree deformation of a side member even if a longitudinally directed impact is applied thereto and suppress increase in the weight to possible minimum. SOLUTION: A side member of a bent shape is formed with a recessed section, is installed on the left and right of a car body in such a way as extending fore and aft, and has a rear straight portion 8 positioned under the cabin and an inclined portion 7 stretching to ahead over from the front extremity of the straight portion 8, wherein a bulkhead 9 formed in approx. an arc of circle is provided on the bent part 7a between the rear straight portion 8 and inclined portion 7 in such a way that the center of the arc of circle is directed to the center of bend of the bent part, and thereby deformation of the side member in the bent part 7a is suppressed.
