PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve board properties and to greatly simplify a splitting step, an adhesive dispersion step, a fiber orientation step and the like. SOLUTION: A fiber board is manufactured by hot-pressing a large number of kenaf long fibers 1 wherein an adhesive 12 is dispersed. In a splitting step, long fiber bundles 3 obtained from kenaf bast parts are arranged so as to be nearly parallel to one another and the bundles 3 are split in such a manner that a tension is applied to the bundles in three directions, preventing the orientations of fibers from being disarranged, whereby a large number of kenaf long fibers 1 are separated so as to be oriented in nearly the same direction. After the splitting step, a step is provided, wherein an adhesive is dispersed in a collected body of the kenaf long fibers 1 which are obtained in the splitting step and oriented in the same direction. In a mat forming step, the collected bodies of long fibers 1 wherein an adhesive is dispersed are stacked to form a kenaf long fiber mat 4. The formed mat is hot-pressed in a hot-press step.
