PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the viscosity of a coating material to be easily increased and the coating material to be applied thick on a substrate at a low cost by adding an inorganic raw material containing clay and feldspar in a specified ratio to an aqueous water-soluble alkali metal silicate solution coating material containing solid particles by a post addition method and heaping up the coating material on the substrate. SOLUTION: An inorganic raw material containing 20-50 wt.% clay and 50-80 wt.% feldspar is used, examples being a spray green body and a crepe-of- China green body for porcelaneous or stonware tiles. The inorganic raw material is finely ground to a particle size of 3-50μm with a mill before being used and is added normally in an amount of 15-40 wt.%. Before a coating material having a viscosity increased by the post addition of the inorganic raw material is applied to form a sterical expression, the step of total or partial gradation coating by air spraying may be introduced, and after the sterical expression is formed, an aqueous water-soluble alkali metal silicate solution coating material, as a topcoating material, containing a small amount of solid particles may be applied to the sterical expression to form a protective layer.
