PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve metal tin in a short time with slight admixture of impurities by adding metal tin to a solution obtained by dissolving a tin compound in an organic solvent and dissolving the metal tin while grinding. SOLUTION: A tin compound such as a tin halide, an organotin, etc., in an amount of 1-60 wt.%, preferably 5-40 wt.% is dissolved in an organic solvent such as an alcohol, acetone, an ether, an ester, etc., to give a solution. The solution and metal tin having 0.5-20 mm, preferably 1-5 mm particle diameter in an amount to make an atomic ratio [X/Sn] (X and Sn are numbers of atoms of each halogen and tin) of 0.6-2.0, preferably 0.6-1.5 are fed to a grinder charged with balls having particles of 2-50 times as large as the particle diameter of the metal tin in a volume ratio of the ball to the solution of 1/10 to 5 times. The grinder is rotated at 20-200 rpm number of revolutions and oxygen is introduced at a rate of 1/2 to 1/20/minute volume ratio of oxygen to the organic solvent to dissolve the metal tin while grinding.
