PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever for lever hoist wherein the lever is prevented from being folded inward even if an external force is applied to the bottom of the lever. SOLUTION: This lever for a lever hoist is composed of a lever body provided with a grip extending downward and in the base end side mounting part with a first recess opening to the left and a lever cover 13 provided with a second recess opening to the right and to be fitted in the first recess. In the space formed between the first and second recesses, a rotating direction changeover pawl 20 to be engaged with a pressure driving member is housed in such a way as capable of being located resiliently in the specified changeover position. The thickness X at the bottom of the lever cover 13 from the right side face 25 of the lever body to the left-side end part 17a of the lever cover 13 is made greater than the thickness Y from the right side face of the lever body to the left side face 29.
