PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method for components hard to applying a parts feeder thereto, a counting method of the components using this method, and a device using these respective methods. SOLUTION: In this component counter, a side hole 17a is bored in the bottom of a cap part 17, abutting in such a state as blocking the lower opening 16c of a hopper part 16, and piled components 20 are divided into a prescribed number, so that the components of controlled feed quantity are fed to the lower opening 16c of the hopper part. The components fed to a screen 15, receiving the impact of vibration are sequentially collided with mesh wires of lower and lower screens to be divided into much smaller, and when passing through the mesh 11 in the bottom most screen, it is detected as a single separated fallen component by a passing sensor 9. A drive mode of an air cylinder 4 integrated with the cap part 17 and the screen and applying impacts can be changed according to the counted number of components passing through the passing sensor 9 by the operation program of the component counter.
