PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the height position of an elbow pad by one operation by providing an adjusting device capable of finely adjusting the height of an armrest while constituting the supporter part of the armrest to be as thin as possible. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a guide cylinder 2 erected on the side part of a seat part, a rack member 3 having a rack 8 where bottom parts 6 are aligned in a vertical direction at regular intervals, a sliding member 10 vertically slidable by being inserted to a rack member suspended under the elbow pad, an operation member whose upper end part is pivotally supported by the sliding member to be freely pressurize-operated against spring energizing from an outer side, engaging pins 191, 192 which is slidably held by the sliding member in a horizontal direction to form an upper and lower pair which can be engaged with the rack and a pin guide whose central part is pivotally supported by the lower end part of the sliding member in a lockable manner to hold the upper and lower engaging pins. The vertical interval of the engaging pins is a pitch where one of them abuts on a top part wen the other fits to the bottom part of the rack. Then, at the time of pressurizing the operation member, the engaging pin is pushed out from the bottom part of the rack to unlock the sliding member to move to an optional height position.
