PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a counterweight which can be firmly and efficiently fixed on an installing portion of a construction machinery and which is stable in strength and favourable in appearance and its formation method. SOLUTION: A counterweight 9 to be installed on an installing portion of a construction machinery free to connect and disconnect to and from it has a weight main body 9a, a flat plate type installing plate 44 integrally formed with the weight main body and to be placed and installed on the installing portion and at least one through hole 44a formed on the installing plate and through which a bolt to fix the installing plate on the installing portion is inserted. Additionally, an installing space 44a in which a bolt installing member to screw with a bolt inserted into the through hole of the installing plate and to fasten the installing plate with the bolt on the installing portion is inserted and arranged is formed opened toward outside between the installing plate and the weight main body.
